  • Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2024 academic year will open from 01 September to 13 October 2023.

Please take note of the following:

  • During the period 3 January to 7 March 2024, all applications for admission must be submitted online. No self-help stations will be available for applications at the regional offices.
  • Admission to a qualification is not automatic. It will depend on whether you comply with the admission requirements and if space is available.
  • Not all qualifications are available all the time. Only the qualifications where there is space available will be available on the online application form.

Unisa Teaching Courses And Programmes Offered

Unisa offers a teaching qualification in the following fields:

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Senior Phase and Further Education and Training Teaching
  • Diploma in Grade R Teaching

Unisa Diploma In Grade R Teaching Registration Requirtements 2024/2025

If you are applying for admission into a Diploma Grade R Teaching, you will need the following requirements:

  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) (Diploma endorsement) with at least a 40% in the language of teaching and learning,
    Or
    A Senior Certificate (SC) with at least an E symbol in HG or a D symbol in SG in the language of teaching and learning
  • or
    a Level 4 National Certificate (Vocational) with a diploma entry endorsement or equivalent and at least 40% in the language of teaching and learning.
  • A Level 4 or Level 5 Certificate,
    or
  • A diploma in Early Development may also be presented for admission and assessment pertaining to advanced credit standing with appropriate subject combinations and levels of achievement, as prescribed by institutions accredited to offer learning programmes that lead to the attainment and awarding of the qualification.

Registration Requirtements 2024/2025

Prospective students are to provide the following:

  • An appropriate accredited Bachelor’s degree (360 or 480 credits)
    or
  • An equivalent National Diploma (360 or 480 credits) with English completed up to the third year or Applied Language in English completed up to the third-year level with English 1. Linguistics or African Literature or an African language or Afrikaans also must have been completed up to the second-year level.

Students who do not meet all the above requirements should rather consider applying for a Bachelor of Education degree.

Pay the application fee once you’ve received your student number:

  • R135 for online applications
  • Use the 8-digit student number you receive from Unisa AND the application fee reference number (i.e. YOUR 8-digit STUDENT NUMBER 5370810030)
