Who Can Register For A UNISA Higher Education Certificate

Only applicants (new applicants and Unisa students who applied for admission to a new qualification) who have already received and accepted a placement offer from Unisa online are eligible to enrol. Unisa retains the right to refuse to process and/or delete your registration if it is determined that you were unlawfully admitted to a qualification. Re-registered students can enrol for the 2024 academic year once registration opens.

Admission Requirements for the Unisa Higher Certificate in Education

You must fulfil the exact entrance requirements for the qualification you have chosen in order to be admitted to Unisa.

  • a National Senior Certificate (NSC) having at least 40% of the coursework conducted in the language of instruction, or
  • a Senior Certificate (SC) in the language of instruction and learning with at least an E symbol on HG or a D symbol on SG, or
  • a Level 4 National Certificate (Vocational) with at least 40% of the NSC’s equivalent in the language of instruction.

Note: The Higher Certificate in Education is not a Professional Teaching Qualification.
