UNISA Chartered Accountant Requirement

(acting as the second year of the two-year CTA program, with direct entrance for students qualifying for the one-year CTA program [see www.unisa.ac.za/cas/cta]).

To be identified as a Chartered Accountant, students must enlist as members of the ICAI after passing the CA Final examinations.
Another option is a direct entrance, which is open to commerce graduates/postgraduates with a minimum of 55 per cent or other graduates/postgraduates with a minimum of 60 per cent.

To become a Chartered Accountant from SAICA one needs:
  1. To have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  2. Honours Post Graduation qualification (CTA 1, CTA2)
  3. 3 years articles (this depends on whether it is a part-time study or full time so it can vary from 3-5 years)
  4. Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sciences (98255)
  5. Give two written board exams (ITC and APC)
