Many are they that are asking, when will the applications for Unisa 2025/2026 academic year be open. This manual is here to throw more light on when applications for Unisa will be opening and closing for the study season 2025/2026.
Currently, applications are still ongoing at Unisa, and all applicants both South African applicants and international applicants are invited by the University of South Africa to submit their application in other to gain admission to study a course or programme of their choice.

When Is Unisa Application Opening For 2025/2026?
The 2025/2026 academic year at Unisa will be opening for both undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications from September to October 2024. Applications will be opening for the academic year 2025 at Unisa by the following dates for the various qualifications:
- Online Unisa Application Open Date For Undergraduate Qualification 2024: Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2024 academic year open from September 2024 to October 2024.
- Online Unisa Application Open Date For Postgraduate And Honours Degree Qualification 2025: Applications for admission to honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2025 academic year open from September 2024 to October 2025.
- Online Unisa Application Open Date For Master’s & Doctoral Qualification 2025: Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral qualifications for the 2025 academic year (some exceptions apply) open from September 2024 to November 2024.
- Online Unisa Application Open Date For Short Learning Programmes 2025: Applications and registrations for short learning programmes for the 2025 academic year will open in November 2024. Who Is Eligible To Apply At UNISA For 2025/2026
Every Applicant wanting to start a new qualification must apply for admission to the University of South Africa. This includes
- first-time Unisa applicants
- Unisa students changing to a new qualification and/or specialization
- applicants who previously applied for admission and were either not offered a space or were offered a space and did not register
- students completing a higher certificate or alternative pathway / extended programme who wish to continue with further undergraduate studies.

When To Submit Your Unisa Supporting Documents During The Application For 2025/2026
Applicants have 10 days from the date of application to upload their compulsory supporting documents (this date does not apply after the closing date for applications).
- If your application is rejected because it is incomplete (i.e. you did not upload all the supporting documents), you will have to re-apply for admission during the next application period and upload the compulsory supporting documents. Note to follow all the processes needed for applying to the University.
How To Apply Online At UNISA 2025/2026
- You may apply for a maximum of two qualifications, ranked in order of preference (although you may only register for one should both of your qualifications be successful).
- Unisa will inform you of the outcome of your application. If successful, Unisa will indicate for which qualification you have been accepted and will offer you a space for the period for which you have applied (e.g. semester 2).
- You must accept or decline Unisa’s offer within the prescribed period. If you miss this deadline, Unisa will withdraw the offer and give your space to another applicant.
- First-time applicants to Unisa will be required to complete the First-Year Experience MOOC (massive open online course) before being able to accept Unisa’s offer.
- You may only accept one offer. This means that when you accept an offer for one qualification (irrespective of whether it is your first or second qualification of choice), the other offer will automatically fall away.
- If you accept Unisa’s offer, you must register for the period for which you have been granted admission. Should you not register for the relevant semester of study, you will need to re-apply for admission during the next application period.
