To enrol for a higher certificate course at Unisa for the academic year 2024-2025, applicants need to apply by the following dates:

2024 Applications Date For Unisa Undergraduate Applicants:

•  Applications Open Date For Undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees): 1st of September 2023.
• Applications Closing Date For Undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees): 13th of October 2023

2024 Applications Date For Unisa Honours And Postgraduate Applicants:

• Applications Open Date For Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas: 1st September  2023
• Applications Closing Date For Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas: 13 October 2023

 2024 Applications Date For Unisa Masters And Doctorial Applicants:

Unisa Higher Certificate In Education Qualification Admission Requirements

Your admission to Unisa is dependent on you meeting the specific admission requirements for your chosen qualification.

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with at least 40% in the language of teaching and learning, or
• a Senior Certificate (SC) with at least an E symbol on HG or a D symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning, or
• a National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with an equivalent of at least 40% in the language of teaching and learning in terms of the NSC.

Note: The Higher Certificate in Education is not a Professional Teaching Qualification.

Who Can Register for UNISA Higher Certificate In Education

• Applicants (new applicants & Unisa students who applied for admission to a new qualification) may only register if they have received an offer of placement from Unisa and have accepted the offer online. Unisa reserves the right to not process and/or cancel your registration if it is found that you were incorrectly admitted to a qualification.
• Re-registering students may register for the 2024 academic year once the registration period opens.
