The Unisa closing date for registration for the 2025/2026 academic year falls a few weeks before the start of the academic term. While exact dates may vary slightly from year to year, the online registration date for the academic year commences a few weeks after the application results have been communicated.  Keep in mind that Unisa adheres to strict deadlines, and late registrations are generally not accepted.

If you aspiring to join the University of South Africa (Unisa) for the 2025/2026 academic year, then one vital date you should mark on your calendar is the Unisa closing date for registration. Missing this deadline can be a major setback in your academic journey. In this article, registrants will be provided with the essential information they need to ensure they don’t miss out on registering for the upcoming academic year.

For higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, BTech degrees, and the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), UNISA’s registration for 2024 opens and closes as follows:

  • Undergraduate semester 1 modules: Registration is from January 2025, with the final date for initial minimum payment on 31 January 2025 and the final date for all outstanding study fees in March 2025.
  • Undergraduate semester 2 modules registered in semester 1: Registration is from July 2025, with both the final date for initial minimum payment and all outstanding fees on 28 July 2025.
  • Undergraduate semester 2 modules registered in semester 2: Registration is from July 2025, with both the final date for initial minimum payment and all outstanding fees in  July 2025.

Undergraduate year modules: Registration is from 3 July 2024 to 28 July 2024, with both the final date for initial minimum payment and all outstanding fees on 28 July 2024.

If you are already registered and wish to add additional modules, log in to myUnisa, select the myAdmin link, click on “Student Admin,” and then on “Register Additional Modules.”

Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas

For honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas, including CTA programmes, UNISA’s registration for 2025 is open from July 2025. The final date for the initial minimum payment and the payment of all outstanding study fees is July 2025. This applies to semester 1 modules, semester 2 modules registered in semester 1, semester 2 modules registered in semester 2, and year modules.

Master’s & doctoral degrees

For master’s and doctoral degrees, UNISA’s registration for 2025 is open from July 2025. Students registering for the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Business Leadership (MBL), and Doctor of Business Leadership (DBL) qualifications must pay and register by 31 January 2025, as compulsory study schools take place in February 2025.

All SBL students with a 7-series student number should contact the Graduate School of Business Leadership for assistance with re-registration at www.unisa.ac.za/sbl. The registration period for the MCompt degree also runs from July 2025.

Exceptions

(only valid for students registering for the qualifications listed below)

  • First-time registering students may register outside of the approved registration dates.
  • Re-registering Unisa students must register during the prescribed registration period.
