The 2025/2026 Unisa Masters Application: Your Road to Academic Excellence:

For the academic year 2025–2026, Unisa is still accepting applications for master’s and doctorate programmes. First-time applicants to Unisa, current Unisa students seeking admission to a new programme, students in their final year of a programme seeking admission to a master’s or doctoral programme, and previously registered master’s and doctoral students who did not register for the 2024 academic year but now wish to continue their studies are all invited to submit their applications.

Unisa Application Date For Masters Programmes 2025/2026

  • Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral qualifications for the 2025 academic year (some exceptions apply) open from September 2024 to November 2024.
  • Master’s & doctoral qualifications:  January 2025-March 2025
  • Doctor of Business Leadership degree(Students registering for the MBA and MBL degrees must contact the Graduate School of Business Leadership: www.unisa.ac.za/sbl): January 2025- March 2025

Unisa Application Requirements for Masters Programmes 2025/2026

Each Unisa qualification is structured in such a way that you need to pass a certain number of modules within a certain amount of time to graduate. The following are the requirements needed in pursuing Masters Degree programmes:

  • Three-year, 360-credit Bachelor’s Degree or National Higher Diploma or Advanced Diploma, accredited by the CHE or from an accredited institution. Please also supply a copy of your degree as well as a transcript, indicating the symbol or percentage obtained for each module and indicating whether or not the qualification was completed.
  • A recent Curriculum Vitae.
  • Supply a clear copy of the Identity Document or Passport. A copy of a driver’s licence will NOT be accepted.
  • If you are a sponsored student, include a letter from your sponsor indicating that they are responsible for your tuition fees.

Unisa Application Process For Masters Degree Programmes 2025/2026

Follow the process below to register for a master’s degree course at Unisa:

Pre-Registration Research:

Before jumping into the registration process:

  • Select Your Program: Familiarize yourself with the available Master’s programs. Browse through the courses, curriculum, and requirements.
  • Check Eligibility: Ensure you meet the entry requirements. Each Master’s program may have specific prerequisites such as an Honours degree in a relevant field or a particular level of work experience.

Gather Necessary Documentation:

Before starting the registration process, make sure you have:

  • Certified copies of your qualifications and academic records.
  • A copy of your ID for South African students or passport for international students.
  • Your marriage certificate or divorce decree (if applicable) if your marital status has changed.
  • A sworn translation of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans.

Online Application:

  • Visit the Unisa Application Website: Go to the application portal on the Unisa website.
  • New Students: If you’re a new student, you’ll need to get a Unisa student number. If you’ve previously studied at Unisa, you can use your existing number.

  • Pay the Application Fee: This non-refundable fee must be paid for your application to be processed.

Wait For Responds:

Registration:

After your application is accepted:

  • Login to myUnisa: This is Unisa’s student portal where the registration happens.
  • Select Your Modules: Depending on your Master’s program, you may need to choose specific modules or courses.
  • Pay the Registration Fee: Before finalizing your registration, you’ll be required to pay the associated fees.

Confirmation and Study Materials:

  • After successful registration, you’ll receive a confirmation, usually through email.
  • Ensure you procure your study materials, either online or from Unisa’s regional offices. Some courses might provide electronic resources while others may require physical textbooks.
