Applications for the 2024/2025 academic year at Unisa are currently ongoing and prospective students from all over the globe are invited to submit their applications for admission into the study year. Unisa is open for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, master and Doctoral courses and short courses.  The online application window for undergraduate applicants for the 2024/2025 academic year a Unisa will be open from the 1st of September 2023 and the application will be closing on the 13th of October 2023. In other, for your application to be processed without delays, applicants need to pay an application fee.

The Unisa application fee is a non-refundable fee charged by the University of South Africa (Unisa) when prospective students submit their application to study at the university. This fee is intended to cover the administrative costs associated with processing and reviewing the applications. The application fee is a once-off payment made by all applicants, regardless of whether they are eventually accepted to study at Unisa or not.

How Much Is Unisa Application Fee For 2024-2025

  • For the academic year 2024/2025, applicants applying for admission at Unisa are to pay a non-refundable online application fee of R135.

Unisa Application Fee Payment Methods 2024-2025

Please note that Unisa does not provide cashier services. No cash or cheques will be accepted at any Unisa office. Cash can, however, be paid into the university’s bank account at any First National Bank (FNB) and ABSA Bank branches.  Below are the payment options available for Unisa students for the academic year 2024/2025:

Unisa web credit/debit card payments:

  • Unisa web payment link: https://www.unisa.ac.za/feepayment (this is a secure site)
  • Credit/debit cards are restricted to Visa and Mastercard.

Please note:

  • Library fines and accounts can now also be paid via this web payment link: https://www.unisa.ac.za/feepayment
  • These are real-time transactions and are subject to OTP verification.

Bank deposit:

Please note that Unisa banks with First National Bank (FNB) and ABSA Bank. Unisa is a pre-approved public beneficiary.

Cash and direct bank deposits can be made at any First National Bank (FNB) and ABSA Bank in South Africa:

  • if you already have a student number.
  • in respect of fees, for example, study fees, examination fees (supplementary, sick or special exam fees), exemption fees and library charges.

Ensure that the deposit slip is correctly filled in as follows:

  • Deposit to Unisa Student Fees
  • Bank account number: Unisa Student Fees
  • Deposit reference: The first eight (8) blocks are for the student number (if the student number consists of only 7 digits, then a “0” must be filled in as the first digit of the student number). Leave one block open, then fill in the following allocations:
  • 5400374721 for study fees
  • 3000774039 for SBL student fees
  • 5400374225 for library fees
  • 5352X74608 for matriculation exemption fees
  • 5370810030 for the application fee
  • 5400315164 for access cards

Debit cards

  • Debit card payments are only taken if you pay or register in person at Unisa in Sunnyside / Florida or at one of the regional offices.

Credit cards

  • Credit cards are restricted to Visa and Mastercard. Credit card payments are taken if you pay or register in person at Unisa in Sunnyside / Florida or at one of the regional offices. Kindly note that these are real-time transactions.

Telegraphic money order (TMO)

Applicants should state their surname, first name, address, student number (if known) and for what purpose the payment is made. The TMO must be addressed to “Unisa” Unisarand for delivery and payment by the Unisarand Post Office.

Bank deposits can be made at any Standard Bank branch in South Africa:

  • If you already have a student number,
  • In respect of fees, for example, study fees, examination fees (supplementary, sick or special exam fees), exemption fees and library charges
  • provided that the deposit slip is correctly filled in as follows:
  • Deposit reference: The first eight (8) blocks are for the student number (If the student number consists of only 7 digits, then a “0” must be filled in as the first digit of the student number) leave one block open, then fill in the code number 5400374721 for study fees, 5400374225 for Library fees or 5352X74608 for Matriculation Exemption fees
  • Ensure that the deposit slip is correctly filled in as follows:
  • Deposit to: Unisa student deposits
  • Bank account number: 096R

Unisa eft payment

Kindly note:

  • Should any of the information on the bank deposit slip be incomplete or incorrect, the transaction will not be processed by the bank and/or may cause a delay in the allocation or transfer of funds to your account and as such the university cannot be held liable for delays caused.
  • Payments will be allocated within two days, except over weekends, to the study fees account provided that all the information on the deposit slip is correct.
  • Only bank-guaranteed cheques will be accepted for deposit. You must write your student number on the back of the cheque.
