Applications to the 2024/2025 academic year will be ending soon which means if you have not yet submitted your applications, then this is the right time to do so. Applications for the 2024 academic year will be closing on the 13th of October 2023. After the closing of applications, many applicants wonder what happens after the application process. Unisa will assess your application after submission, which includes the points score system. You may be offered a space for the 2024 academic year based on whether you meet the academic admission requirements for your qualification of choice, your minimum academic points score (APS) and the number of spaces available for the qualification for which you have applied. Applications follow a formal selection and approval process, which may take up to three months to be finalised.

If your application for admission is successful, you must register for the 2024 academic year. Should you not register for the 2024 academic year for any reason, you will be required to apply for admission during the next application period.

What will Unisa Do Upon Getting Your Application?

Unisa will check your application to make sure that you meet the admission requirements and that you have uploaded all the compulsory supporting documents needed for applying to the University.

When To Submit Your Unisa Supporting Documents During The Application For 2024/2025

Applicants have 10 days from the date of application to upload their compulsory supporting documents (this date does not apply after the closing date for applications).

If your application is rejected because it is incomplete (i.e. you did not upload all the supporting documents), you will have to re-apply for admission during the next application period and upload the compulsory supporting documents. Note to follow all the processes needed for applying to the University.

Your application will be evaluated by Unisa, including the points system. Based on the following factors, you might be given a spot for the 2023 semester 2 academic year: whether you meet the academic admission standards for the qualification of your choice; your minimum academic points score (APS); and the number of spaces available for the qualification for which you have applied.

Applicants who do not qualify for admission will get feedback as soon as their applications are processed.
Based on Unisa’s application and selection process outlined above, applicants may not automatically be accepted to study through Unisa in 2024 semester 1. Spaces for some qualifications are limited and offers will only be made once all the applications received have been processed. In such cases, your application will be processed and you will be informed that your application for your qualification of choice is subject to enrolment management.
Applicants who qualify for admission will only receive final feedback as to whether or not Unisa will offer them a space for the 2024 semester 1, academic year once all applications received by the closing date have been processed.

What Happens Next

Successful application: Unisa will confirm this via e-mail and will also provide you with the contact details of a specific member of staff, normally your supervisor, within the relevant academic department. Please remember to register during the prescribed registration period.
Unsuccessful application: Unisa will inform you of this via e-mail and provide you with a reason why your application was unsuccessful for you do not repeat the same mistakes when applying next time.
